Southwestern Medical Clinic Fellowship Application

Purpose
To provide selected medical students, residents, or fellows with clinical experience in a medical missions setting.

Eligibility
1. A third or fourth year medical student enrolled in an approved US medical school.
2. A resident or fellow enrolled in an approved clinical training program in the US.
3. Strong interest in international or domestic Christian missionary medicine.

Method of Application
1. Applications are reviewed two times per year. Deadlines are June 1 and December 1.
2. All applications must be submitted at least 60 days prior to the intended trip.

4. Based on written application, suitable candidates will be interviewed either in person or via telephone.

Awards
Awards will be announced by mail on July 15 and January 15 (or earlier). The amount of the grant is for transportation and project-related expenses up to $2000.

Conditions
1. Candidate must participate in a medical missionary preceptorship, clerkship, or service for minimum of 4 weeks.
2. The fund must be used for a trip that is to be completed within 18 months of award date.
3. Recipients are required to submit a typewritten report to SWMC within sixty days after completion of the trip.
4. Recipients may be invited to give a report of their experience in person at Southwestern Medical Clinic. Relevant expenses will be covered by the Clinic.
