The SWMC Foundation is available to the general public as well as to SWMC physicians
and staff as a means of channeling their missionary giving to appropriate sources.
The SWMC Board of Directors meets regularly to oversee the foundation’s funds.
Donations to the foundation are tax-deductible. The foundation can benefit donors
in the following ways:
-
Donors or their designees can accumulate funds over time for future missionary expenses.
For example, donors can set aside money for future short-term mission trips that
the donor or his/her designee expects to take.
- Multiple donors can combine their gifts to facilitate larger-sized donations on
behalf of medical missions. For example, the Fools-For-Christ Investors Club is
one way that SWMC Providers cooperate to make larger total donations than they would
be able to make on their own.
- Donors can receive tax-deductible status for the year of their donation, even if
the receiving agency will not be ready to receive the donation until another tax
year.
- Donors can take advantage of the Board of Directors’ broad knowledge regarding
worthy medical missions causes. Donations specified for use "where most needed"
will be directed to such worthy causes.
- Donors can give non-cash instruments (gifts-in-kind or various estate planning transfers)
to the foundation, making themselves eligible for the appropriate tax benefit while
empowering the foundation to deliver the donated resource to a worthy recipient.
